Shape

I've started looking into shape and figuring out what design I want to make for my final accessory, I want to keep to a basic shape but be able to attach it to a belt by a clip or buckle. I like the silver climbing buckle and how I could use this to attach this to a belt to make it multi use. I need to draw up a design and see how it would work in practice, the bag needs to be able to roll down so it can be air/water tight. I've already sourced a material which is water resistance but is quick thick so it might not roll down as it might just become a bulk. Also looking at these designs they do have different shapes of colour included in them so I could sample with this to give it a more interesting aesthetic.

Design work

While looking into the bag design I found this step by step guide on making a simple dry bag. i want to do a sample using this guide to see how successful it is and to also see if I can use it for my final design.  https://www.instructables.com/id/Dry-Bag/ From this I drew a sketch of what I wanted to achieve. With the addition of the belt.

Initial ideas

When I first started this brief the initial idea of jewellery came to mind. I'd already got some images in my head from my favourite brands that would inspire my own piece, most of them are organic yet simple designs which is what I wanted to achieve. The almost unpolished aesthetic to these pieces is what appeals to me so I wanted to include this style in my potential designs. These shapes remind me of seabeds and coral which links to the images I started collecting on pinterest. In order to achieve this it would involve the use of the metal work facilities which is something I'd have to look into, without the facilities it would prevent me from going ahead with this idea.

Acronym

While still researching for my essay and practical work I thought it would be relevant to put in this brand that I've been looking into called 'Acronym'. Their style in a fusion of function and aesthetic whilst taking influence from a number of resources, mostly eastern asian culture and techwear. There is a 3 minute video on the link which I will put below for you to watch, it visualises the difference because techwear for function purposes and for aesthetic purposes which is something I'm discussing in my essay. https://www.grailed.com/drycleanonly/techwear-cyberpunk-orientalism
